English 11H Final Projects
The first final project I began learning about was Isa’s project on Gender Inequality. I highly enjoyed clicking through this Neatline project because I am very interested in the topic Isa chose. Gender inequality is prevalent in the world today and the sources she used were powerful leading to a very strong and informational project. I appreciate how Isa includes texts that criticize or have controversial views on women such as Sigmund Freud. In comparison to the criticisms, I love how Isa included other texts of women who challenged gender roles. The next final project I viewed was John’s project on familial relationships. I appreciate how John used a variety of well-known texts. One of my favorite books is To Kill a Mockingbird, and using this text strengthened his overall point of research. Another text I appreciated that was included in this project was King Lear. I read King Lear last year, and this text was a very good source to include in a project on familial relationships. I also appreciate how John had a great variety of texts that were from a wide range of time periods and geographical locations. Another project I viewed was Jojo’s project on mental illness as seen throughout history in literature. I liked how Jojo used Home Fire as her home text as it ties very well with her topic. The texts she used also came from a variety of geographical locations and time periods. Jojo’s video was very informational and her presentation flowed very well. The last project I viewed was Javi’s project on political and social resistance against oppression through storytelling and literature. His Neatline exhibit was very easy to follow and each tab included a large amount of rich information. I also got a glimpse of “The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavus Vassa, the African" by Olaudah Equiano (Kingdom of Benin, present-day Nigeria, 1789) which I enjoyed reading about, so I am even more excited to read it later this quarter for class. Overall, these four final projects were very strong and I enjoyed learning about them.
